Experienced, Principled Leadership to Stand Up for the People of Illinois

I am honored to announce my candidacy for Illinois Attorney General. I am so proud to be in the race to be the top advocate for millions of Illinoisans, fighting for your rights and standing up for your interests every day.

Our nation--and our state--are in peril, and the job of the Attorney General has never been more important. As we confront unconstitutional attacks from the Trump administration, we need a leader who will be fearless, principled, and who will never back down. My years of experience as a federal prosecutor, as the chief administrator of the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, and as First Deputy and General Counsel to the City of Chicago Office of the Inspector General have prepared me for this moment like nothing else can.

For me, the pursuit of justice is deeply personal. I’m a mom. I have two young adult children and I worry for their safety, like any mother of Black children does today--when as we know, a simple traffic stop can lead to tragedy and death.

I have been witness to the power of the justice system when it works well--when we make changes that offer our communities greater security and fairness--not only in terms of violent crime, but in areas like fair consumer lending practices, and protection from fraudulent business schemes and scams. That’s why I’m running--because I hold the conviction that we can do better. And, because of the immediate threats facing our democracy, we MUST do better.

I’m ready to do whatever it takes to defend the rights of Illinois residents. I hope you’ll stand with me.
