I was humbled when the Chicago Tribune and the Daily Herald endorsed me as the best candidate in this field of eight for the Democratic nomination for Illinois Attorney General. When I read the endorsement of the Chicago Sun-Times yesterday, I was left speechless.
This is a year where voters - especially those in Illinois - are looking for leaders who represent the core progressive values of the Democratic party, while demonstrating independence from the politicians who appropriate those same values for their own personal benefit.
The Sun-Times agrees, saying, "Fairley has a certain clear-headed centeredness, an independence of mind and spirit that could make her a particularly effective attorney general."
My opponents are spending millions on television ads - funded by utility companies, corporations, tobacco billionaires, and political bosses - to drown out these important endorsements. We need to step up and deliver our own message.
Thank you for all that you've done. These crucial endorsements are a validation of the campaign that you have helped me to build.
